A lifeline can save or preserve life, it can maintain contact with a person in a dangerous situation, or it can represent something that is indispensable for maintaining life. In these concise yet descriptive poems, Gaiyle J. Connolly offers reflections on the lifelines she has experienced as a mother, teacher and traveller, as a social justice advocate, and as an artist. All these roles influence her poetry, but the most important influence comes from her work as a visual artist. The themes of travel, justice issues, love and relationships are grouped into eight sections, each of which begins with three original haikus.
The book contains photographs of original artwork done by the author, including the cover, which is a photo of Connolly’s work entitled “Triple Portrait”.
